Where to Find the Best Phentermine Reviews

Posted by admin on Nov 28, 2010 in Health | 0 comments

There are many phentermine reviews and testimonials on the Net that attest to this appetite suppressant’s effectiveness in helping an individual lose weight. But should these reviews be enough to convince you – the consumer – to buy Phentermine?

Let us first look at the facts. Phentermine is a sympathomimetic drug which acts directly on the hypothalamus of the brain to release the hormones norepinephrine, dopamine and serotonin, which in turn reduce hunger. It is originally used solely in obese patients to help them re-establish control in their appetites (especially those patients who have become resistant to other anorectic drugs). However, in recent decades, Phentermine is being touted as an effective over-the-counter appetite suppressant for normal individuals who are just seeking to maintain their weight.

People who take Phentermine regularly for weight loss and appetite suppression put themselves at increased risk of developing side effects, such as dizziness, lightheadedness, headaches, nausea, anxiety attacks, stomach cramps, tremors, and insomnia. Life-threatening conditions that may develop as a result of Phentermine abuse are chest pains, hypertension, breathing difficulties, fainting, arrhythmias and tachycardia, hallucinations, edema in the legs and feet, and coma. Drug dependency on Phentermine has also been documented. Plus, Phentermine is contraindicated in a number of medical conditions such as heart disease, hyperthyroidism, glaucoma, and arteriosclerosis.

Don’t believe all the glowing Phentermine reviews and testimonials that you read or here. Before taking Phentermine or other appetite suppressants, always consult with your doctor first. Chances are you might not even need to take Phentermine and only require to observe a diet regimen and regular exercise program.

Things You Need to Know about Diet Pills for Women

Posted by admin on Nov 28, 2010 in Beauty | 0 comments

In this fast paced world we live in, more and more women are replacing a healthy diet and exercise with the so-called “convenience” of over-the counter diet pills as a means to lose those excess pounds.

The goal of most diet pills for women is the suppression of appetite. These appetite suppressants come in the form of sympathomimetic drugs or as bulking agents. Other diet pills, such as Orlistat, aid in the mobilization and burning of excess fats.

Over the years, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has banned over a 100 diet pills and weight loss products whose ingredients have produced dangerous side effects or have not been scientifically documented at all to be effective. First and foremost among these banned ingredients is Ephedra, which has been found to cause heart attacks and strokes. Another drug with side effects similar to Ephedra is the cold preparation Phenylpropanolamine (PPA). Aside from increased risk of heart attacks and strokes, sibutramine (Meridia) also causes abdominal pain, nasal and sinus inflammation, dysmenorrheal, headaches and seizures. Rimonabant – a weight loss drug developed in Europe – causes serious psychiatric problems including depression and suicidal ideation.

On the other hand, bulking agents like guar gum have been found to swell inside the gastrointestinal tract which may block the throat and/or stomach. Despite glowing reviews and testimonials, manufacturers of grapefruit extract products have not scientifically demonstrated its effectiveness in weight loss.

Don’t just take any diet pills for women that you see on TV, the Net or recommended to you by friends or loved ones. Do some research first. List down the ingredients of the product and cross check it with the list of banned diet pill ingredients in the FDA website. Always consult with your doctor first if you do need to take a diet pill. If you have an existing medical condition, any diet pills you take might aggravate your disease and/or cause life-threatening symptoms.

Emergency Medical Assistance

Posted by admin on Nov 28, 2010 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Every individual – man, woman or child – should know how to seek emergency medical assistance. A prompt call to 911 or other emergency numbers could literally spell the difference between life and death.

First and foremost, NEVER assume that just because you and your family are healthy, you would not need emergency medical assistance in the future. Keep lists of emergency numbers tacked on the wall near your phone, in every bedroom, in your wallet, and saved on your cellphone. Important emergency numbers should include 911, the numbers of your doctor/s, your nearby clinic and/or hospital, and an ambulance service if available. In the absence of an ambulance service in your area, get a number of a taxi service that you trust that could give you immediate transport to the hospital.

Emergency medical assistance is required in cases of accidents, heart attacks and strokes, drowning, bleeding, and serious burns. But there are also certain symptoms that you should observe which would entail emergency treatment. These symptoms are severe chest pain, difficulty of breathing, high grade fever (40 degrees or higher) that is not relieved by anti-fever medications, loss of consciousness, concussion and other head injuries, seizures and/or convulsions, injuries resulting from serious falls or accidents, and deteriorating neurological function (such as lethargy, muscle weakness, loss of bowel or bladder function).

It is very important to remember that emergency medical assistance would be useless if you do not institute CPR and other first aid measures while waiting for the paramedics to arrive. CPR and other first aid techniques will help to prevent the patient from deteriorating rapidly. First aid and emergency treatment in partnership have helped to save millions of lives worldwide.
