Tough Kid Questions

Posted by admin on Jul 23, 2011 in House and Home, Thoughts | 0 comments

I was going about my daily routine when my son suddenly approached me and then suddenly asked – is God real?  I was surprised because we have been teaching him about God and I wonder where this question came from.  He then followed the question with “why is it that there are tsunamis, earthquakes, tornadoes, storms, floods etc”?  It’s one of those tough questions that christian fathers have to be prepared to answer.  I understand where my son was coming from because he experienced the wrath of nature first hand via Ondoy.  I responded that even I ask that same question but I explained to my eldest son how God created the world perfect, and how the whole creation fell along side man when sin entered.  So all these natural calamities started happening after man sinned. I got a nod of approval from him but I know that this is just the beginning of more tough questions.  The next question was: do we need to have a tornado shelter? Hehe, hopefully my son will soon learn more about the real God – and not just the fairy tale type stories.

Swimming at Tagaytay

Posted by admin on Jul 21, 2011 in Personal | 0 comments

Last May, we celebrated the birthday of my good friend, Dan. He has been my friend for a long time and he is also the godfather of my firstborn son. It was a fun day full of eating and swimming. It was also our first time to go swimming at Tagaytay. The rain threatened to fall but in the end it didn’t so we swam our hearts out.

Here are some of the memorable pictures we shot:

Picture Perfect

Posted by admin on Jul 21, 2011 in Personal | 0 comments

If you’re noticing more pictures in my blog it’s because we have finally organized all our pictures. My wife upgraded our account at Photobucket to pro so we now have enough space to store our photos. She has also organized and labeled each set of pics for easier access. The good thing about saving your photos online is you can access it anywhere. So now whether I’m on one of the Ordinateurs at the office (which is the French word for computer desktop, by the way) or at our laptop at home these are still at my disposal. Here’s one of my favorite recent pictures of my son taken by my wife.

Goal Chart is Effective

Posted by admin on Jul 21, 2011 in Personal | 0 comments

We have been trying to instill in our son, Z the habit of setting small goals and achieving it. We got inspiration from his homeschool provider who gave us some goal charts. Each day, he is supposed to write the page numbers that he should answer for the day and then cross out once he has done it. It was a brilliant idea because he knows exactly what is expected of him. If my wife is busy and he finishes one subject he doesn’t have to wait for her anymore. He can just glance at his goal chart and move on to the next.

One day, we were surprised when he applied this to other things he needed to do for the day. He even wrote some “goals” for his baby brother. He showed it to us and we laughed when we read it. Can you understand his goals for the day? The left is his and the right is his brothers’.

Wheels of misfortune

Posted by admin on Jul 10, 2011 in Personal | 0 comments

I have been having problems with the wheels of our car just after a few months of use. I even told myself that I should practice changing tires, but have put off doing it until fate played it’s funny joke and allowed me to practice changing tires on a real flat tire – our car’s!. At first I didn’t even have the right tools – but it was good that I asked for tips from other drivers and they have told me to get decent floor jacks. To make the long story short I successfully changed the tire, but the story did not end there – I have experienced multiple flat tires now and have since changed into new tires. Hopefully it won’t give me problems for a few years. Until then :/
