Lately we have been brainstorming on ideas on what particular business to start once the home renovation is done. We’ve thought of many possible business ventures – laundry, food, toys, store, mini-grocery etc. Heck we even thought of starting our own corporate event planning even though we both are anti-social in nature!

Currently, we are leaning towards having the ground floor open to turn it into an apartment or bed spacer for rent. My hope is that everything goes well and we can finally earn some money through an actual business.

My wife has recently been hooked to investing. Thanks to online systems that now support stock investing, we can now easily invest our money in the comfort of our home. I constantly have to remind her that it is a risky hobby, but I know that she does her homework well and she seems to enjoy understanding and experiencing the stock “trading”. All in all it is still better than just letting inflation eat our money, now if only we could just buy gold bars instead!

Thanks to God’s grace, we are not much worried about debt. And its not because we make tons of money, its because we know the dangers of getting in debt and we consciously make an effort to avoid it. Here are some obvious tips to be debt free:

- Use your credit card to get points, and never to “extend” your expenses

The problem of Debt starts slow and if you are not careful, it can creep up on your finances. The most important step to stay clear of debt is to ask wisdom from God on how you can use your resources to bear fruit, and remember to give back to always give back to God what is due him.

So you just graduated or worse you dropped out of school and you need a job. That is problematique!

1. Know what you want to do with your life. Picking a job you hate doing is something you’ll regret for the rest of your life.

2. Look for a job months in advance before you need one. This is where a lot of people fail. Most of us just start looking for a job when we feel our resignation date is closing in, or when we are in dire need of money. What will result is we will accept whatever bad offer comes first and we will end up with low paying unwanted jobs that will suck our lives up. 3. Have multiple options. Don’t let the jobs select people that they will hire, you should be the one selecting the company that will hire you. So better apply to more companies that you find interesting. 4. Be prepared for the questions, with the advent of the internet, it is now so easy to anticipate the exams and interview questions. Just practice.

5. Get out there and get it done.

6. Finally remind your self to never get stuck with a lousy job – think of other ways to earn income, as getting a job is not the “be all end all”…
