The Christmas holidays start early in this city and with that comes the rush to look for gifts.  Every year we have to look for gifts that are affordable and yet interesting, and the same will happen again this year because our God children are only going to grow more in numbers.

The usual item that I buy for kids are art sets and other things that they can be productive with.  There are a number of relatively affordable choices with which the receivers always seem happy about.

I recently went “man-shopping” with a friend, and we didn’t look for clothes, rather we were looking for musical equipment that our church needs.

We were looking to buy “boom” type microphones for use with our choir. Since we were looking at musical gear, I also looked at various instruments and gear that was interesting. I saw a fender super champ x2 and a Mustang IV – which really got me itching to buy an amp. Still I had to give way to important items that we have listed down.

Aside from the microphones, we ended up buying a cables and parts for rebuilding our speaker monitors. We were imagining if we had a really big budget – we wound end up buying a lot of stuff.

Last weekend, we went to the mall. After a week of hard work, we thought we always make time to take a trip to the mall to relax and run some errands.

First on my list was some audio and video cables. My existing ones are old so I thought it was time to change them.

Then we went to the toy store to buy the kids some toys. We don’t buy them expensive toys nowadays because we noticed they’re still happy even if we buy then inexpensive ones. Maybe the saying is true, it’s the thought that really counts.

Anyway, before we went home we dropped by the restaurant for a quick meal.

Cyber Monday is the term given to the Monday after Thanksgiving. This came about after observations were made that after the Thanksgiving weekend, shoppers who have gone online for some window shopping proceeded to purchase the items they want online the moment they go back to work the next Monday.

Cyber Monday is now a shopping phenomenon with millions of shopping continuing to purchase online after the long weekend of Thanksgiving and even after the shopping high of Black Friday. It is still unknown why this pattern of peak in online shopping has continued over the years.  Maybe consumers take advantage of the huge discounts the online stores have offered to lure shoppers to shop even more or maybe they want to shop away from the eyes of their relatives we don’t know.

Black Friday – the Friday after Thanksgiving – is the much awaited day for shopping in the United States. Others say this is the start of Christmas shopping. If you’re wondering why it is called Black Friday, well, it came from the phrase “in the Black” which in retailing lingo means to make a profit. Stores announce huge discounts on certain items during Black Friday. They won’t make much profit on discounted items but they make lots of profits when the customers that get attracted by the huge discounts buy other non-discounted items.
