Equestrian riding boots

Posted by admin on Feb 1, 2011 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

If you are a sports lover, you probably would have watched an equestrian competition or two on TV via major sporting events like the Olympics. Men and women are dressed smartly in black coats and breeches with white shirts underneath and shiny boots on their feet, as they negotiate their horses through hurdles and other obstacles on a course.

Equestrian riding boots, however, are not only for show. Not only do they help to protect the inner legs from chafing friction with the horse’s hide, they also ensure that the rider has a better seating or grip on the horse between his or her legs while jumping hurdles.

While equestrian boots come in short ankle length and tall sizes, it is best to buy tall boots as these are commonly used during competitions. Get pairs that are ideal for certain events. For dress performances, stiff boots are the best. Ideal boots for jumping events are those with laces at the ankles.

When fitting for boots, make sure that you wear the breeches and tall socks that you will be using together with the boots. Always try out both boots and walk around in the store to ensure a perfect, comfortable fit.

Although there are online retailers of equestrian riding boots, it is still best to buy boots from your local shoe store. Aside from being assured of the fit, you can easily return the boots if there are any defects.

Snowthrower

Posted by admin on Dec 19, 2010 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Winter, with its great potential for snowstorms and blizzards, makes it imperative for home and business owners to make sure that their snow equipment is properly maintained for possible use. One popular type of snow equipment is the snowthrower.

A snowthrower – or a snowblower, as it is also mistakenly called – is a machine resembling a lawnmower except that it has a large pick-up (called an “impeller”) with blades or paddles inside it. The impeller gathers the snow and the blades throw it away. What makes a snowthrower different from a snowblower is that it takes the former only one stage to remove snow while the later takes two stages. In the case of the snowthrower, the impeller gathers the snow into the machine and is promptly dispelled via a discharge chute. Snowblowers, on the other, first uses an auger drive that gathers snow into the impeller. Then, the impeller blows off the snow from the machine.

Because it is considered a light duty machine, snowthrower parts tend to wear down easily with constant use. Some of the parts that an owner needs to have on hand in case the machine breaks down include the snow paddles (these are frequently broken if the paddles hit a fallen tree or tree stump or a large rock in the process of removing snow from a garden), spark plugs, shear pins, belts, slide shoes, and scraper bars.

Some of the leading snowthrower brands like Toro and Honda have all these replacement parts and more via hardware stores and online distributors. Simply check out the parts you need with a click of your mouse and pay for them with your credit card. The snowthrower parts will then be delivered right at your doorstep.
